You’d be extremely lucky to find the “one”. Wanting to marry her will only be natural, since you would want to spend the rest of your life with the woman you love. Before proposing to her though, you’re going to be needing the perfect engagement ring. One that she would love, in particular.
However, that’s easier said than done. Not to mention trying buy the perfect ring is nothing short of overwhelming. There’s a lot that goes into it. You can’t just decide to buy one ring and think that’s that. It doesn’t work that way.
Establish your budget
Contrary to popular belief, you do NOT need to spend about 2 months’ worth of salary to buy this ring. Buy the prettiest one you can find. Most women would rather just like to spend the first few moments of their marriage free from debt and actually go on a honeymoon without any trouble. The ring is supposed to be a symbol of your love. Your girl would appreciate it more if the thought of you actually searching for the one ring she would like was the point of the search.
Find out her ring size
This is where you get sneaky. Nothing is more awkward than proposing to the woman you love and putting the ring on her finger, only to find out that the ring doesn’t even fit. Sure, you can just take the ring to a store and refit it, but let’s avoid that from happening in general. You can swipe a ring she doesn’t often wear and take that to the jewellers so they can get that size. It’s either you do this while she’s in the bathroom or you ask her friends to do it for you. For that matter, try to get the right size at Anania. Anania are diamond jewellers in Sydney, after all. Who better to help you out in your time of need than a great jeweller?
Research her style
Another thing you need to be sneaky about. If you want it to be a surprise, then you’re going to have to go through great lengths so she wouldn’t find out. It’s not that hard to find out what she likes if you have been paying attention to her as much as she had been to you during the course of your relationship. But if you aren’t that sure about what she likes for a ring, try this; when you both are out strolling, be casual when you say “Hey, can we go look at watches for a sec?”. Get busy pretending to be interested in some Rolex watches while she looks at the rings. Watch her reaction when you say something extremely casual like “That one looks nice.” before going back to looking at watches.
Of course, there is also the option of shopping the ring with her. It saves you the trouble of hiding and making a mistake of selecting one that doesn’t fit or one she fakes her smile at. Surprising her is more fun and precious though.
